snow, snow, snow...

So, woops. I meant to post yesterday. I guess I got a little bit busy with my wide open schedule! :)
Anyhow. This is the day we went to Mt. Rainier (and Rainbow Falls). Well, we stopped in Astoria, OR for the night and in the morning were able to see a great view of the bridge. We love bridges and dams in our house. We stop to see them all the time (you know, since the hubs is a civil engineer and because he mostly works on water stuff).

The Bridge. It was a very long bridge. I'm sure you you live in the area you will know the name of the bridge. I want to say it's the Colombian, but I don't really remember so don't take my word for it!

On our way to Mt. Rainier we saw a little sign that said "Rainbow Falls." We thought it would be the perfect place to stop and eat our lunch (left overs from the night before- did I mention that pizza was the best one I have ever eaten? It's true. And it was pretty much just as amazing left over for lunch :)
Anyhow. The "Falls" part was a big fat lie. Because if you look at the little picture from above you will be able to see just how much of a fall it was. I'd classify it more as a baby rapid. One that even I would be willing to ride over. Not a Waterfall. But, we still enjoyed eating our lunch and being outside for a little bit.

Then we saw a dam. Wow! It was pretty cool. I won't bore you will all of the pictures. Just a few :)

hubs and his Dam. he's so cute.

We saw a bear, so naturally I wanted to take a picture of it. Hubs said he thought the bear looked friendly enough for me to get in the picture with him :)
... Though I can saw we did see a real live bear! It was pretty cool! Sadly I wasn't quick enough with the camera, so you will have to take my word for it. I don't lie, so you should have no problem believing me.

a fun adventure :) I hadn't been here since I was a little girl. It was fun going back with the hubs.

the dried up river bed. I kept thinking a huge gush of water would come and sweep me away, it didn't :)

we found a nice little bridge and went exploring.

while we were exploring I hugged a nice tree :)

on the bridge. Like how I give such great captions? You never could have guess that probably? Well, maybe you would have been able to since you can't really see the water below, but I digress...

Sadly, I don't remember the name of this waterfall. I want to say rainbow, but I just don't know. I do remember standing by this waterfall as a little girl with my sister. I always liked the picture.

on the mountain and seeing some snow!

eating some snow. don't worry. it wasn't yellow. and I didn't really eat it.

pretty, pretty!

hubs waving from the car. Look at all the snow!

It was a little blizzard up there that afternoon! It was soooo wonderful! Forget that six layers of clothing were hardly keeping me warm, it was very fun and very beautiful.

and the snow. You might like to know that, on average, Mt. Rainier gets about 50 feet of snow with the most being 100 feet of snow. Crazy! Fun fun!

we ate dinner at a sweet little restaurant on the mountain, at Paradise :) True story. We were at Paradise and had dinner at Paradise Inn. I can see why they named it that.

I like him. ...did I mention it was a fancy restaurant? They had white tablecloths and everything.

my delicious dinner of wild mushroom soup!

and some steak something or rother for the hubs :) Both were gobbled up very quickly!

we even got to see some pretty dear on our way out!

Anyhow. I hope you all have a lovely Friday! I am going to get started on some dinner.

And we were greeted by this pretty beach.

[6 hours later: I found the name - Fultano's.

But, they had the BEST pizza I have ever eaten.
And I have eaten a lot of pizza.
Everything about it was divine!
I wish there was one here.

pretty places

Sunday we chilled for the most part. Read. Took a nap. And hung out with my brother. He took us around to some really pretty places and of course, I had to document :)

hello, brother.

purdy and frigid water.

I love the Northwest. It makes my heart happy.

me and the hubs. I like him.

I also like my big brother.

and his family. They are cute, fun...

... and full of personality :)

Pretty chill, I know. But I have to post these pictures so I will remember all of the wonderful things we did and saw while on our trip.

Have a happy Tuesday!

adventures

Last week The Hubs and I were on an adventure :) tis true. We went to visit the great Northwest. While we were out there I accomplished something I have never done before. I filled up a memory card. It was completely empty and I ended up having to delete some pictures to make room for a few more.

Anyhow. Our adventure started when we flew into Portland, OR on Friday night to see my older brother. We hung out at his house for the weekend, got to visit him and his family, and one of my dear sweet friends from my college days in Idaho.

On Saturday morning my brother dropped us off in downtown Portland where we had a yummy breakfast, ever had a baked pancake before? (Heaven in a cake, I tell you. It was light and fluffy and not too dense. Ah-mazing, that's what). I meant to take a picture but I was a little occupied eating the deliciousness that was before me. Anyhow. After breakfast we went wandering around Portland. Just him. Just me. Just us. It was lovely.

we walked all around...

and went to the Saturday Market.

just some of Portland for ya.

we stumbled along this little place. The line was about two miles long when we first saw it, I kid you not. Then we passed it again and it was pretty much just as long. So naturally we stood in line for five hours to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, they have been on the television before, a few times.

I tried the toasted coconut doughnut. It was really very delicious :) The Hubs got the blueberry cake doughnut, he said it was scrumptious.

hangin' out.

I got to see one of my dearest friends from college. She lives in the Portland area now with her hubby. They came out and we got to enjoy some yummy dinner together and hang out for a while. I like her. Shame we live on opposite sides of the country.

Sunset outside my brother's house. purddy, no?

Anyhow. That was day one. Pretty much, every day was equally full of adventures. After I share about them all you can try and guess which day was my favorite :) mmmk?!

alrighty, then. Have a happy Monday!

Dead books :(

I killed something last night, a book (I just want to make sure we are VERY CLEAR on that part. No living, breathing, anything was hurt last night by me. It was a book. Doesn't mean I enjoyed tearing apart the sweet little book, but it wasn't a life and that's what you (and me) need to keep in mind. mmmmk? :). It's true, a poor unsuspecting, precious, innocent, lovely, little book. A dictionary to be more exact (which I really could have used in my classroom, as I only have six and they are all really precious and I would love to have more than six)and I killed it. It was quite terrifiying and horribly awful. I had nightmares about the whole process. See, this is how I feel after ripping a book apart. I could never kill anything, it would be the death of me! Anyhow, I'm sure you are wondering why I killed an innocent and useful little dictionary last night. To make a bird house. That's why. yep. yep. yeppers. As a craft. I would post a picture to show you how it turned out, but my option to post photos right now is not working properly. Once it starts working soon i will show you what i crafted out of that poor little dictionary :)

color me crazy

I put my foot in my mouth again. Not literally. But, I told my sister (who is a professional runner) that I would do the Color Run with her when it comes to town, if she would come and visit me that is. I gave a deadline and shut my mouth. But then, at 9:13 last night I figured I ought to at least ask. I would hate to miss the deadline in case she really wanted to. Though I must admit, I was secretly hoping her phone would be on silent or better yet lost for the night. It wasn't. She responded right away that she could come and she'd love to run it with me.

yay. my joy has never been greater.

On the bright side I will get to see my sister who lives a whole days drive away from me. And I guess I should be excited about running with her. It was fun the last time, so I'm sure it will be even better this time because we are running a MUCH shorter distance (10 miles shorter) and more importantly - we will be splattered with pretty paint colors as we run :)

So I went running this morning. gee, I'm so excited about this. I love running.

... I'm very glad there is a lot of brightness on the bright side of this. I know I will be happy I ran it.

Are you running any fun runs this summer? Have you done the color run? Is it as amazing as it sounds?

Happy Friday y'all!
